Stream ecology workshops

Dave Penrose has taught many workshops that specifically deal with the ecology of aquatic insects and has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina at Asheville and Kathmandu University in Nepal.  Most of these workshops are geared towards instruction of field collection protocols commonly used in North Carolina and taxonomic identification methods.

Getting people in the stream and showing them what these insects look like and presenting information about their ecology is a fascinating science.  One of my real pleasures is taking very young students streamside.  Ask me sometime about a very young student wondering if I’ve seen a unicorn.

Workshops are commonly associated with North Carolina State University, EPA or often times with municipal governments in NC.  Dave Penrose is frequently asked to give presentations about aquatic insects to fly-fishing groups and other interested parties.
